MISSION STATEMENT

MISSION

Since it first formed in the Colorado State House on January 2, 1909, the National Guard Association of Colorado has represented the Colorado National Guard to the National Guard Association of the United States, United States Congress, the Colorado Legislature, and the citizens of Colorado.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the National Guard Association of Colorado is to encourage centers of influence and decision makers to secure better equipment, training, benefits, and support for our Colorado National Guardsmen and their families. It represents the men and women of the Colorado National Guard who have served in the nation’s wars and are the military’s first responders when Colorado is confronted with natural disasters or threats to homeland security, and is committed to the welfare of over 4,800 Colorado National Guard citizen soldiers and their families.

VISION

The National Guard Association of Colorado always strives to ensure the Colorado National Guard is ready, relevant, reliable, and accessible at all times. It works to attain parity of equipment and training between the Colorado National Guard and their active component counterparts, by quickly and decisively identifying equipment and training shortfalls and effectively promoting modernization and replacement of outdated or damaged equipment. Its advocacy for transformation and transition to new missions for the Colorado National Guard always provides them the means to grow and excel.

The National Guard Association of Colorado is a successful conduit to enhance recruiting, retention and readiness by bringing benefits for our National Guard families in line with the active component, including access to family support, and survivor benefits. The National Guard Association of Colorado successfully reduces hardships for employers, guardsmen and families during deployments by engaging, educating, and heightening the awareness of national, state and local leadership on the unique challenges posed by National Guard service, and by affecting improvements.
